Your #ExpediaFindYours Stories Inspire Me

The #ExpediaFindYours campaign has been a joy to be a part of this month and the most joyful part of the whole experience has been reading about the experiences others have had gaining perspective through travel.

As the month of this campaign is drawing to a close, here’s what I decided — what good is having my own travel blog if I can’t use it to share a few of my readers stories so they too can inspire you…

My favorite, from my friends Ted and Bethany (Two Oregonians) who traveled through Lebanon and took this photograph in Beirut:

In their own words, “The magnificently beautiful red dress in the boutique window display speaks of luxury, power, femininity, and celebration while the red mirror behind and the windowpane in front reflect the scarred shell of the Old Holiday Inn building. The skyscraper, epicenter of Beirut, Lebanon’s civil war, bears bullet and bombshell wounds as old as the 1970s. Blood has been cleaned off the concrete, but underneath the surface, chaos of war still bleeds in the collective memory of the people. Meanwhile, beauty grows up in defiance. This is one single image rather than super-imposed shots. I captured the picture with my iPhone 3GS while walking down the broken sidewalks on my way home during our final week in Beirut. I’ll never forget this incredible city and the profound experience of life in the midst of ancient cultures that have weathered so many storms and still come out with a joy for life.
This, from photographer Adam Rhoades who is based in the UK, taken on a rooftop in NYC is one of my favorite perspectives of the Big Apple that I’ve come across:

Marie-Eve and I share a perspective on London, we both love it!

I never tire of a good story about flying:

I am bothered by the problem of garbage on our planet, so I was heartened to see travel had opened Jaime’s eyes to it:

One of my favorite places to experience Colorado is the Red Rocks:

DEFINITELY check out this video from my fellow Expedia blogger, Trish:

Seattle is a great city, I can’t imagine disliking any perspective of it:

Not at all what I expected when I sought people’s perspectives during this campaign but that might be why I liked this one from Lori:

I absolutely agree with Natalie – I think dead trees can be beautiful in their own way.

These travelers have entered to win big from Expedia by sharing their stories about perspective. You can win too up until tomorrow. Details here. Though it’s pretty simple: 1) Tweet me @KirstenAlana 2) Include a photo 3) Include the hashtags #Perspective #ExpediaFindYours. You could win a trip to Aruba or a $250 travel voucher!

See my initial post about this campaign and my involvement with #ExpediaFindYours here.

For the most current updates, become a fan on Facebook, check out my Highlights on AFAR or follow me on Instagram. I am able to update both networks more frequently than this blog. And if you enjoyed this post, please show the love by sharing it!
